The Feast of the Transfiguration of Our Lord is celebrated on August 6th. Atop Mount Tabor, with Peter, John and James, Jesus transfigured, and His face and garments became a dazzling white. Moses and Elijah had appeared also, to signify that Jesus is the fulfillment of both the law (represented by Moses) and the Prophets (represented by Elijah).
With this phenomenal occurrence, we are reminded of Matthew 5:17-18, when Jesus said to His disciples,
“Do not think that I have come to abolish the law and the prophets; I have come not to abolish them but to fulfill them. Amen, I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not the smallest letter or the smallest part of a letter will pass from the law, until all things have taken place.”
God spoke at Jesus’ Transfiguration saying “This is my Son, the Beloved, with whom I am well pleased. Listen to him!”
