In 1830 Our Lady appeared to St. Catherine Laboure and told her to commission the "Miraculous Medal." This image has to be known as "Our Lady of Grace" because Our Lady assures that those who wear the medal with confidence will receive great grace. Traditionally portrayed as striking down the demon, Our Lady of Grace is a representation of the Virgin Mary with a powerful protection. This 8" statue is made in paste of wood and polyresin by the craftsmen in Val Gardena in Northern Italy.
